Our Story
In 2023, Maria O'Connell, a lifelong Cork resident, dreamed of opening a bookshop. Drawing from her love of books and a strong Cork connect she subsequently opened Maria’s Bookshelf. The purpose she had in mind was to create a place where people could discover literary treasures and enjoy the simple joy of reading. Supported by her husband, Liam, who plays a crucial role in the shop. Both Maria and her husband along with Bob, their cat, add to the warm, inviting atmosphere that makes Maria’s Bookshelf a unique Cork gem.
